Yes, a Singaporean company must have at least one director who is a local resident. To be considered a local resident in Singapore, the individual must be a Singapore citizen, a Singapore permanent resident, or hold an Employment Pass (from the same company where they want to be a director). Additionally, the local director must be a natural person over the age of 18 and not a corporate entity. Foreign companies or entrepreneurs wishing to establish and operate a Singaporean company have two options:

A) Have a foreign executive relocate to Singapore and serve as the resident director (subject to their work pass being approved).

B) Utilize the nominee director service of a corporate services firm in Singapore to fulfill the resident director requirement.
